Wish List of 2011 Annual Priorities
WOMEN & CHILDREN'S SERVICES


1. African American Breast Health and Sister-to-Sister Programs

With your help, free clinical breast exams, annual mammograms and follow-up services will be provided to at-risk populations and those genetically-predisposed for cancer.

2. Bayview Child Health Center

Help ensure that medical care is provided to every child at Bayview Child Health Center in the underserved Bayview Hunters Point community.

3. Child Life Program for Pediatric Specialty Center

Help fund an additional Child Life Specialist who is extensively trained to help children cope with the emotional and sometimes terrifying medical experience.

4. Infant Warmers and Birthing Beds for Labor and Delivery

Help purchase ergonomically designed beds that will make a woman’s labor and delivery experience more comfortable and safe and technologically advanced bed warmers that will cradle newborns in warmth while being examined and monitored.

5. Kalmanovitz Child Development Center

Many of the children seen at the Center come from families who without your support could not otherwise afford care, and have survived drugs in the womb, were born prematurely, or have learning disabilities, autism, or eating disorders.

6. Neonatal Transport Gurney (with Incubator)

Your gift will help purchase the most advanced transport incubator available for transferring critically-ill infants smoothly and safely.

7. Pediatric Transport Gurney

Help purchase an ergonomic pediatric gurney with superior features such as a streamlined design and hydraulic lift capabilities that promote a quick, smooth, and safe journey.

8. Women’s Health Resource Center

Ten thousand women visit the Center annually for information, classes and support groups. Your gift will help fund the continuation of these services for every woman, regardless of her ability to pay.

OTHER MEDICAL CENTER AREAS

9. Brain Lab Cranial Navigation System
This is a GPS system for the brain, guiding surgeons in locating and treating abnormalities. You can help fund such a system for the new Neuroscience Institute at CPMC’s Davies Campus.

10. Cardiac Cryo Ablation Equipment

Currently, when CPMC patients need cardiac cryo-ablation, they are transferred to an outside medical facility. Help CPMC broaden its capability to serve cardiac patients so this procedure can be performed in-house.

11. Cardiac 3D Mapping System

Help ensure that our world-class electrophysiologists are equipped with the best technology available and that our cardiac patients needing ablation to treat arrhythmias will receive the safest and most effective care.

12. Coming Home Hospice

This is San Francisco’s only licensed residential hospice facility for end of life diseases. Insurers only cover about half the annual budget; the rest depends on people like you, who recognize the value of life’s most precious moments.

13. Hepatitis B Free Screening Project

In collaboration with the SF Department of Public Health, CPMC initiated the Hepatitis B Free Screening Project for high-risk groups and has screened 3,120 people in two years. Your gift will help us screen another 3,000 individuals over the next two years.

14. Institute for Health & Healing (IHH)

One of the largest integrative medical centers in the country, the IHH is globally respected and widely copied. Your gift will support this Institute’s invaluable work, where the science and spirit of medicine come together to heal the whole person.

15. Paul May and Frank Stein Interventional Endoscopy Center Expansion

Your gift will go towards funding expansion that will benefit patients who urgently need
diagnosis and treatment for gastrointestinal and biliopancreatic tract problems.

16. Radiation Oncology 4D CT Simulator
In radiation therapy, a CT Simulator sets the unique measurements necessary to treat individual patients. Your gift will replace CPMC’s existing simulator, near the end of its lifespan, with an upgrade that will provide more detailed images, less time on the table for the patient as well as the ability to accommodate people of all sizes.
